Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009

Yesterday, President Obama signed into law the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The Act expands workers’ rights to sue for unequal pay by relaxing the statute of limitations. You can read more about the Act here.

Women of the Year

We would like to invite you to our Women of the Year event being held on April 21, 2009 at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center. We will be posthumously honoring Geraldine Abrams as our Woman of the Year. The Woman of the Year is presented to a woman in appreciation of her exceptional leadership and integrity and her distinguished achievements for the betterment of her community. All proceeds from the Woman of the Year event will go to the BPW Tech Valley scholarship fund, which awards scholarships to young women seeking higher education. Geraldine was an extremely successful business women and real estate agent in Saratoga Springs. She was admired by her peers and others in the business community. She was a role model to many business women and men alike. She knew how to live everyday as if it was her last. This spirit helped her in her business as well as when she was faced with battling lung cancer. She was brave and courageous in the face of this illness that tragically took her life too soon.
